FORTY LICKS dirilis pada bulan September 2002, tepat 40 tahun setelah Brian Jones membentuk The Rolling Stones. Sejarah 40 tahun karir The Rolling Stones terangkum dalam dua disc. CD pertama berisi hits-hits mereka di era sekitar 1964-1971 seperti Satisfastion, Honky Tonk Women, Sympathy For The Devil, Paint It Black, Jumping Jack Flash dll. Sementara CD kedua berisi kumpulan hits di era 1971-2002 seperti Brown Sugar, Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It), Angie, Start Me Up dll. plus lagu baru seperti Don’t Stop & Losing My Touch. Forty Licks dirilis untuk mengikuti jejak sukses besar album the best of The Beatles, 1. Namun pada kenyataannya The Rolling Stones masih belum bisa mengalahkan The Beatles. Forty Licks paling tinggi berada di posisi 2 dalam chart Billboard Amerika & UK Top 75 Album, sementara album 1 The Beatles tetap yg teratas di dunia. [pndng]
